The main aspect of my work is that of co-ordinating Clinical Trials in Diabetic Patients but I also work in the Outpatient Diabetic Clinic on a part time basis. As a member of an Academic Research Department, I am conducting my own small piece of research and hope in the future to be more active in the aspect of "core research".

During this time I have worked on Phase 111 Clinical Drug Trials for the treatment of diabetes and hypertension and studies measuring blood flow and endothelial function. My main area of interest is the control of hypertension in patients with diabetes and I am currently completing a pilot Nurse-Led Hypertension Clinic within the Diabetic clinic of the Whittington Hospital. I hope in the future to carry out my own research within this clinic. Having established links with the Lead Nurse for R&D in the Hospital together we are working to encourage nursing research and we are organizing study days to introduce nurses to research. I am joint organizer of a weekly meeting for non-medical clinical researchers, which aims to bring together people from the Trust and the 2 universities located at the Whittington.
